While fewer adults lose _____ teeth now than in ____ decades, tooth loss is __________ with poor health outcomes, _________ stroke, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis ___ diabetes.
In the UB study, _____ smokers-defined as those who ___ at least 26 pack-years __ smoking, or the equivalent __ having smoked a pack _ day for 26 years-were ______ twice as likely to ______ having experienced tooth loss _______ and more than six _____ as likely to have ___________ tooth loss due to ___________ disease, compared to those ___ never smoked.
Participants provided information to ___________ using a detailed questionnaire ________ smoking history. Each participant ____ underwent a comprehensive oral ___________ and reported to the ______ examiners reasons for each _____ lost. In some cases, ___ patient's dental records also ____ reviewed.
